With the second edition of Ultra South Africa just one month away, the FINAL lineup that fans have been waiting for is now revealed! With the likes of Armin van Buuren, Axwell^Ingrosso, Hardwell and Martin Garrix among those already confirmed, the already stacked lineup is getting another boost with the addition of international headliners Oliver Heldens, Gorgon City and DVBBS—all of whom will be descending upon both Cape Town and Johannesburg for the largest electronic music festival in Africa’s history.

Very few artists have had a bigger 2014 than Oliver Heldens, who over the last 12 months announced himself to the world by creating his own ‘Future House’ genre. Fresh off the back of some of last year’s biggest anthems, including the inimitable ‘Gecko’ and much loved follow up ‘Koala’, this will likely be the first of many Ultra performances for the Dutchman following the announcement that he will also play Ultra Buneos Aires in February and Ultra Music Festival in Miami this March.

Coming off their critically acclaimed debut album release late last year, British duo Gorgon City will also be bringing their own brand of house to the continent for the very first time and are guaranteed to be a hit with the locals having racked up a number of high charting hits over the last year. Canadian brothers DVBBS, who have established themselves as one of the most exciting double acts in the scene today, round off yet another packed headline roster announcement from the Ultra Worldwide brand.

RELIVE ULTRA SOUTH AFRICA 2014 (COLOURS & WAVES)

Barcelona’s esteemed Elrow club, which has become synonymous in the dance world for its seemingly never-ending parties, will be represented in full force at the event, with resident DJs Marc Maya, De La Swing and Toni Varga set to whip the locals into a tech-filled frenzy. Not to be forgotten, the famed international names will also be supported by South Africa’s biggest and best local acts such as Black Coffee, Goldfish and many more. See below for full details of all the homegrown talent on show.

With capacity for each event increasing this year due to unprecedented popular demand, over 40,000 fans are set to unite at both Ostrich Farm in Cape Town and the Nasrec Expo Grounds in Johannesburg this February, as Ultra South Africa looks to break records once again with Africa’s largest ever electronic music event.

And, with Early Bird admission selling out due unprecedented demand late last year and General Admission tickets selling faster than ever, fans still have the chance to make a late run and be a part of history. For the latest news on which other amazing acts will be setting the stages alight at Ultra South Africa, and to keep up-to-date with all other news and information, stay tuned to the official website and Ultra South Africa™ Facebook Page.

ANNA is one of Brazil’s finest exports, exploding into the electronic music scene as one of the most exciting female DJs & producers of this new era. With an intense love of music from an early age, she has been rocking clubs in her home country since she was 15 years old, and it shows! ANNA’s presence and ability behind the decks is simply stunning, igniting the dance floor and creating pure energy that captivates everywhere she plays.

After temporarily moving to Europe in 2008 to start pursuing an international career, things started to progress quickly, touring across Spain, Portugal, Hungary, France, Czech Republic and more. Having always been interested in music production, it was at this time that Anna got a taste for the studio and developed her unique sound of deep, yet energetic Tech-House & Techno.

Since then she has been releasing on some of the scene’s finest labels, including Turbo Recordings, Click Records, Tronic, Kraftek, Witty Tunes, Bla Bla and Toolroom Records. ANNA has also been creating a fine catalogue of remixes, giving her distinctive treatment to Gorgon City, Pleasurekraft, Baher & Fulltone, Victor Ruiz & Alex Stein, D-Nox & Beckers, The Scumfrog, Oliver Klein & Ramon Tapia, Anderson Noise, Filthy Rich, Format B and more.

ANNA’s flirtatious sound of deep & driving tech house is a testament to her passion & exceptional technical ability. With an ever-growing, adoring army of fans in Brazil and around the world, a high profile tour in 2014, and hot new releases coming on respected labels, the scene is set for this future superstar to shine.
I didn’t choose music, I think music chose me. I never dreamed about it, it just happened when I was 15 years old. Looking back on all these years I see that every time times were tough and I might have a little bit considered giving up on being a DJ suddenly something happened that made me not do it and I’ve very thankful that I never gave up!
Take us through how you started out and how you got noticed within the dance music industry.
My father used to own a club, one day I started complaining about the DJ and he challenged me “why don’t you go there and take his place?”, so the next day I started practicing on his gear, about 8 hours every day, and 2 years later I was on my first DJ agency and then things started developing from there.
How did you get into producing and do you have any musical training?
I think it is natural, I started as a DJ, but after a while, I started wanting to play my own tracks, and I was curious too. I am married to a producer; he is a genius and thought me a lot! I did drum classes for a while when I was about 16 years old, and now I do piano classes.
I take a lot of influence from early house and disco, stuff from the 70s, 80s, sometimes I hear some sound and the whole Idea come into my head, sometimes I sit for hours in the studio and nothing happens, then I go throughout my samples to unlock, sometimes it helps.

6. You have had the opportunity to remix Gorgon City, Pleasurekraft and many more when tackling a remix how do you approach it?
I will only agree to do a remix if I like the remix parts, sometimes the music is great but the parts I have to work with do not inspire me so I would rather not commit to it. The way I tackle it is that I start by doing something completely new as if I’m doing my own original track and when I run out of ideas I start piecing the remix parts on top of the track and mix it all together.

7. Being in the music industry is stressful, how do you deal with the pressures of the dance world?
I meditate a lot, I practice transcendental meditation, it is a miracle. I try just to concentrate on getting better on my work and to evolve; I’ve learned to deal with the ups and downs from the music industry.

8. Following on from the question above, what have been some of the challenges you have faced or are still facing in the music industry especially being a female DJ?
I think the challenges are the same that as all the other DJs face, to put your record out in good labels takes time and persistence, so does to break into the club scene and festivals, but if you work hard at it, it will happen eventually.

9. What advice do you have for females trying to break into the scene or wanting to follow a career as DJs/producers?
Work and study a lot, learn to take criticism and keep your head up, go to venues where you'd like to play and go check the DJs you look up to playing live, meet people, having a good network can take you a long way, research new technologies and new music. If you're great at what you do, don't worry, there will be a place for you.

Europe’s largest and most exciting snow and music festival, Snowbombing, has announced its first wave of outstanding dance acts for 2015. World-renowned quartet Rudimental (live), Dubstep extraordinaire Skrillex, the legendary Basement Jaxx, House legend Carl Cox and the globally renowned Fatboy Slim have all been confirmed for 2015.

Now in its outstanding sixteenth year, Snowbombing will take place on 6th-11th April 2015 in the chocolate box town of Mayrhofen, Austria. The first wave of brilliant acts are just the tip of the iceberg and a taster of what to expect next year, as Snowbombing is yet to reveal some more exciting new headliners along with some extra special surprises including some fantastic new venues.

One of the world’s hottest dance acts Rudimental will be gracing the stage for a third year. Since their debut in 2013, they have played in the laser engulfed alpine forest and sent the arctic disco, an igloo made entirely from snow into meltdown. This year they are lined-up to return to the forest for a performance like no other.

Rudimental said: “Really hyped to be at Snowbombing 2015, it’s always a sick time! The crowd and the location is great. Wicked vibes!!”

Joining them will be groundbreaking music producer and DJ, Skrillex, whose album ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ identified him as a forced to be reckoned with. Skrillex’s remix of “Cinema” by Benny Bennassi taken from that album, launched his global success and made him one of the most respected electronic music acts in the UK.

Snowbombing favorite, House legend Carl Cox, is making a welcomed return to Mayrhofen. Having hailed Snowbombing as his “highlight of 2013”, he couldn’t wait to return in 2014 and now he just can’t keep away. He brings with him the best House beats from the past twenty years, as he plays out a DJ set that will remind revelers why Carl Cox is one of the leading and long-standing House DJ’s. His Funk & Soul set at the Arctic Disco was one of the most memorable moments of 2014 and next year’s set in the Racket Club looks set raise the bar even higher.

The legend that is Fatboy Slim will also make a triumphant return for his third year at Snowbombing, having previously awoken the sleepy Alpine town twice before with his eclectic mix of instantly recognizable beats. With iconic songs such as “Right Here, Right Now” and “ Praise You” under his belt, this set in the mighty Racket Club, will definitely not disappoint.

Meanwhile dymanic duo Basement Jaxx will make their debut with an exciting live set that is set to make Snowbombing history. With seven studio albums including dancefloor smashers “Romeo” and “Where’s Your Head At?” to pick from, this feel good set is not to be missed!

The electronic music offering doesn’t end there, Drum ‘n’ Bass duo Sigma have also been added to the line-up, following their recent chart topping success with their remix of “Nobody To Love.” Gorgon City and Wilkinson also join the line-up.

Thet will be joined by Innervisons favourites Âme, the mighty Anja Schneider, Henrik Schwax and Modeselektor.

David Rodigan MBE a Snowbombing favourite, has been added to the bill and will be joined by the man with the huge musical appetite, Eats Everything.

So if dancing the night away to a picturesque alpine backdrop, listening to some of the world’s most groundbreaking music acts, relaxing in a luxury spa or just skiing on the fresh white snow appeals, then join Snowbombing for what’s set to be the most incredible year yet.

Hailing from the North of London producers Matt & Kye joined forces to form one of the iconic duo's of hte year Gorgon City. Their already distinctive sound is a logical development of the duo’s individual work as RackNRuin and Foamo. Signed to the impressive Black Butter camp (who brought you Rudimental amongst others) the duo has continued to woo fans one release at a time. Its true to say that Gorgon City are one of the most exciting and hotly tipped new acts in the ever-flourishing landscape of British club savvy pop.

From the day the news broke about their debut artist album we had a feeling that it might blow our socks off. Oh boy were we mistaken, Sirens has cast a powerful spell over us and exceeds all expectations. It's not often you listen to an album from start to finish and are captivated by every single song. Every time it ends we can't wait to press replay again, thats what the effect of good music and Sirens does it effortlessly.

In true Gorgan City style Sirens offers a sound that is polished, powerful and party-minded. Sirens features the pairs hit singles Ready For Love with MNEK, Real featuring Yasmin and Here For You with Laura Welsh. In addition to those tracks the pair has collaborated with the likes of LIV, Katy B, Zak Able, and Jennifer Hudson to name a few.

The album starts of with Coming Home featuring the strong male vocals of Maverick Sabre layered on top of the duo's signature beat , piano melodies and pulsing basslines providing good feeling all round. After the popular Ready For Your Love Katy B serenades you with her sultry vocals on Lover Like You. Laura Welsh than ignites your romantic side after that Erik Hassle takes it a step down with FTPA. Erik is a swedish pop star whose voice reminds us of our very own Matthew Gold. The drum beats, piano and trumpet all work in harmony to create a track thats all glamour and feelings and sets the tone for the next track Go All Night that was co-written by Kiesza and feature the strong vocals of Jennifer Hudson. Be warned Go All Night will make you lose your shit, it's a full on party track.

A personal favourite of ours has to be Imagination featuring the edgy vocals of Katy Menditta. If at this point in the album you asking why you love Gorgon City? Imagination will answer that question. The album is not all sultry vocals, emotional lyrics and deep feelings, 6AM with Tish Hyman proves this and is a perfect example of the duo's versatility.

We going to be bold and just say it Sirens might just be the album of the year. Elegant, timeless, with a romantic feel. We guess we can thank Gorgon Cities long-standing love of jungle, house, grime, hip-hop and garage while growing up for this exciting piece of music. They've only just started..
