STYLE OF EYE RELEASES SOPHOMORE ALBUM 'FOOTPRINTS'

STYLE OF EYE FOOTPRINTS album

In an age where dance music is all too often driven by quantity rather than quality, Linus Eklow, AKA Style of Eye, has always come up trumps as a much-needed breath of fresh air. Once again bucking the trend and carving his own unique path, Style of Eye now returns with the long-awaited release of his sophomore album ‘Footprints’—out now on Sony Music/Ultra Records.

Style of Eye has never typically been one to follow the pack—a notion that has been manifested over the years through his distinctly varied productions, spanning a huge range of genres and labels. Whether he’s conjuring house records for Fool’s Gold, techno-driven tracks for Sound Pellegrino or electro cuts for Skrillex’s OWSLA, the Swede has been consistently praised for his ability to shift and shape his sound at his own arbitrary pleasure.
“This has been four years in the making and back then, I found myself having to make a lot of critical choices,” said Eklow. “The album is me coming full circle and represents the musical trail I’ve been on over the past several years. You’ll hear the spectrum of what I’ve been exposed to, but not in the most conventional way. My creative process started before considering the club floor and consequently, it’s taken a while. That’s why I think ‘Footprints’ is the perfect name. It really is about my journey across the years to this point.”
‘Footprints’ now sees the gifted Swede add to this unpredictable streak, as he fuses aspects of progressive, house and electro to create a twelve-track masterpiece long player to rival any other this Fall. Featuring familiar releases like ‘Kids’, which sold over 40,000 copies and reached platinum status in Sweden, the album also contains other recent hits including ‘The Game’, ‘Love Looks’ and most recently ‘Louder’—all of which have garnered heavy DJ and media support since they were unveiled earlier this year. Featuring a wealth of collaborators across the entire album, it’s the iconic vocal hooks and catchy top lines that really set ‘Footprints’ apart from the pack.
“I’ve used my experience from when I was assisting pop producers back in the 90s to compose ‘Footprints’. It’s not only about focusing on the tracks and beats, but about finding a balance within each song. It’s about digging that little deeper and finding out, what should this song really say… that has enabled me to get to where I wanted it to be.”
Almost a year since the conception of Galantis, the electronic super-duo that was formed with friend and Miike Snow-member Christian Karlsson and whose self-titled EP ended up topping the iTunes Dance Charts in the US, it’s safe to say that the last 12 months have been the best of Eklow’s career. With a ‘Footprints’ tour set to kick off soon, plus the threat of a Galantis LP on the horizon, there’s still so much more to come from the Scandinavian hit maker. As a producer who has been known to walk the fine line between mainstream and underground electronic music, Eklow will continue to change his sound as and when he feels the moment is right. It’s all a part of Style of Eye’s journey—the rest are just following in his ‘Footprints’.
