Parisian heavyweight Mercer and Canadian duo Autoerotique collectively boast an impressive roster of past collaborators including Steve Aoki, DJ Snake, and Felix Cartal, so it’s no surprise that the two powers have finally teamed up for their first joint effort “Murda Dem.”
While Mercer brings the heat with his hallmark menacing builds and rapid-fire snare lines, Autoerotique lathers on a hearty helping of bass and the signature laser synth stabs we came to love from their hit “LZR Bass.” Out today, the juddering jam takes listeners on frenetic ride through tribal drum patterns, boisterous hi-hat sequences and a vocal sample echoing "murda dem!"
After breaking onto the scene in 2013 with megahits “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Supreme,” Mercer steamrolled into this year with his chart-topping DJ Snake collaboration “Lunatic.” Having released on a variety of labels including Spinnin’ Records, Mixmash and Dim Mak, the Frenchman’s productions straddle genre lines and range from reworks of electro titans Dada Life to underground hero Tchami. Balancing his production passion while maintaining his well-followed monthly podcast and a brimming domestic tour schedule, Mercer is quickly becoming one of dance music’s newest success stories.
