WOLFGANG VOIGT LIVE:
BERLIN: MAY 8, HKW

A fanfare of cautious grandeur rings out as if it were the opening for indeterminate festivities, only to be immediately reflected by itself. In ever new mirrors. In the hall of mirrors. The room inside a room inside a room...

Time is a very elastic concept. Narcotic brass loops, almost imperceptibly modulating, reel towards infinity. A 70's kraut electronics sequencer feeling coquets with James Last's muzak sound and Cheb musicians on valium. Stoic, infinite, limp. Programmatic boredom as rhetorical device of befuddled bliss. Only the occasional cloud of atonality suggests the abyss behind the blue skies of (pop)ambientish other- worldliness.

"Rückverzauberung 9" appears as a sound installation produced for: "Doofe Musik, Lieder zum Träumen, Betäuben und Vergessen", a festival at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt - Berlin, May 2014

Track listing CD Album:
1. RÜCKVERZAUBERUNG 9.1
2. RÜCKVERZAUBERUNG 9.2
3. RÜCKVERZAUBERUNG 9.3
4. RÜCKVERZAUBERUNG 9.4
5. RÜCKVERZAUBERUNG 9.5

Limited to 500 CDs worldwide. Out July 7.

POLKATRAX is one of the long-term projects closest to Wolfgang Voigt's heart. A foundation for a wide range of polka, folk and brass music, the two-fourth meter has always inspired Voigt, who crosses essences, loops and rhythmic borrowings from these styles with techno since the late 80's. For Voigt, polka's oom-pah-pah beat corresponds with the bang-bang of the straight techno bass drum in a completely non-ironical way.

It's primarily the sound of accordions and horns common to this music that enters a charming symbiosis with a familiar techno dance feeling. Even though the usual cheerfulness is largely preserved, Voigt sees this by no means as a genuine soundtrack for beer tent and fairs, and even less as a spoof thereof.

On occasion of the festival "Doofe Musik, Lieder zum Träumen, Betäuben und Vergessen" ("Dumb music, songs for dreaming, numbing and forgetting") on May 8th, 2014, at Haus Der Kulturen in Berlin, Wolfgang Voigt will present a first-time selection of his polka techno experiments as a computer live gig. Dancing is strongly recommended.

Track listing 12" EP:
A. POLKATRAX 1.1
B. POLKATRAX 1.2
