As he voraciously ascends the ranks of the German techno world, Hamburg-based wunderkind Etnik readies his latest EP, Neon Daze, to be released via OWSLA on November 19th. Etnik has distanced himself from the pack with an electronic elegance that buzzes and bleeps, while affecting simplicity and innovation. 

This elegant techno is sophisticatedly highlighted on songs like “Neon Daze” and “Vault, which offer pleasant and unassuming beats that suddenly plunge and pulse into heart racing thumps. The vocals on “Boaws” gleam with a sense minimal atmospheric beauty. Etnik impresses with a collection of concentrated beats and homemade sawtooth synths which always relay a charming analogue fragility and, most importantly, soul. Throughout the EP, listeners are awarded the opportunity to imbibe Etnik's cleanly perfectionist production style and revel in his unparalleled virtuosity.

 

Etnik pushes beyond the boundaries of the contemporary DJ/Producer into the realm of the conceptual entertainer. It is his singular concept that has garnered the acclaim of Zombie Nation and TWR72, to name but a few. To celebrate the release of Neon Daze, a tour has been planned in Australia and the USA.

As for the elaborate, beat-driven song, Etnik – who takes inspiration from the likes of Boys Noize, Kraftwerk and Johann Sebastian Bach – tells Rolling Stone, “[…] I used drum samples to add that certain kind of glamour to the sound of the track. The main synth is a little off-tone, which almost makes it sound wrong. But to me this imperfection made the track completely perfect."
