As Animals Announces Debut LP, "I See Ghost (Ghost Gunfighters)" Video Drops w/ Beats Per Minute

French duo As Animals has announced their debut LP, to be released early next year in the US. The band, made up of multi-instrumentalist Frédéric Grange and singer/songwriter Zara Desbonnes, shys away from defining their sound in any conventional way-- instead, they prefer to let the music speak for itself. Driven by passion, impulse, and a deeply-rooted love of music, the album showcases the duo's diversity with a handful of original tracks and remixes. As an introduction to the album, As Animals has shared a video for first single "I See Ghost (Ghost Gunfighters)", which features Zara's expressive and powerful vocals above piano, strings, and an infectious mix of drums & bass. You can check out the powerful, cinematic video via Beats Per Minute, and post & share the it viaYouTube.

Inspired by everyone from Bjork & The Knife to Feist & Fiona Apple-- along with the aesthetics of Kubrick, Terry Gilliam and Oliver Stone-- As Animals' songs are full of pop hooks and stick-in-your-head choruses, but have a certain edginess to them. Classically trained on guitar and piano and now versed in bass, keyboard and drums, Fred's playing has been shaped by the likes of Metallica, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd, while Zara found her voice when she first encountered dominant female vocals like those of Cyndi Lauper.

While Fred takes the lead on instrumentals and Zara tackles lyrics, everything As Animals creates is a collaborative effort. Hearing the band talk about their art, it's clear that creating music is in their blood: “When we start to play a melody, on the guitar, piano, drums or whatever, and it clicks for us, it becomes a mission. Once we start it, we have to continue until we finish, even if it takes hours, days….”
