<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Willy Monfret (born in France on 3 October 1982) is a French Caribbean model, actor, DJ and former athlete. Although he travelled extensively as a model and DJ, he came to larger attention in 2010 after he moved to New York City from Europe and was discovered by singer and rapper Nicki Minaj to star in her video that summer, Right  Thru Me & Love Trilogy. He continues to travel and perform internationally  has as both a model and DJ.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>1. To start. You have been to South Africa a few times, what is your favorite thing about our country?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Love the fact that summer for you is winter for us. I love the fusion between the cities and nature. The food is great and the people are very friendly :) </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>2. You have a pretty impressive list of talents: a Master’s degree in management, model, DJ/producer as well as actor. Is this how you saw your future when you were growing up? What were your career aspirations growing up?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">No, I didn’t have a future plan when I was younger. I am just a curious person. I love to try different things and I am pretty adventurous. I love traveling and seeing other countries. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>3. Let’s talk about your musical side. What is it about the music scene that attracted you to djing?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">It is just about the joy that music brings to people and how it can change you mood right the way. I am half Caribbean and my whole family comes together to enjoy music. I grew up in the suburb of Paris with the minorities Africans, Arabians, Europeans and Asians. So I’ve been surrounded all my life with different cultures and music influences. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>4. What sort of music do you enjoy listening to and playing? Who are some of your favorite artists?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I have a very open mind when it comes to music. I can listen to all kinds of music. I enjoy the most playing House Music, Deep House Tribal Drums and Electro Music. I like to have a set with those 3 types of sounds. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>5. What are your future plans for the music world? Any more single track releases, or are you just focusing on DJing?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I am actually now focused on releasing tracks. My first track of the year will be released in February on Lightstate Music.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>6. Your first musical release “FUX”  featured GLOWINTHEDARK  and was released on the Dirty Dutch imprint. Tell us a bit more about this track, what inspired this track and how did the collaboration with GLOWINTHEDARK come about?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">It was a very important step for me. It was just after my first video with Nicky Minaj that I wanted to get into the next level of DJing through production. I met DJ Chuckie, Dirty Dutch’s leader, who introduced me to <a href="http://www.thinkinelectronic.com/2014/03/aint-party-without-glowinthedark.html" target="_blank">GLOWINTHEDARK</a>. I think we were in the same transition in our careers at that time and that’s why we worked together. We became good friends and we are still working together today and I’ll want to continue that for a long time! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>7. As a model and DJ you have to travel quite extensively and as much as they are fun to do it is work at the same time and it can be quite exhausting. How do you stay grounded and find a balance between the two?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Like everything, it is all about the right balance. I just listen to my body. Because of my athlete history I know that I have to go to the gym, sleep well or take naps and eat healthy food. I drink a lot of water and so far I feel great. Like this, I can continue for many years! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>8. The modeling industry can be quite cut throat, what for you is the best and worst part of being an internationally recognized model?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">As soon as people put a name on your visage, modeling is taking another proportion. Brands / Designers book you, it is not only about your physical appearance, it's about your personality and I am very happy that it is going that way for me.  </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>9. No we know that you appeared Nicki Minaj’s “Right Thru Me” video and now again in her “Pink Print Movie” (for her latest album release The Pink print). What was it like working with Nicki Minaj?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">It is always very intense. The whole team is very professional and focused to make it perfect. So, you cannot make any mistakes and that's why it is one of the most interesting jobs.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I had to be very concentrated from the beginning to the end. Nicky Minaj is a strong woman who knows what she wants. I took her project very seriously; I understood that it was her decision taking the risk to work with me when she could choose other big actors. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I try my best to stay accessible but it's true that sometimes, it is out of control. But I take it as part of the job and to be honest, most of the time it is a real pleasure! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>11. You’ve probably had loads of shoots. To date what has been your favorite shoot?</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Definitely, the shooting for my island Guadeloupe. We were at the best hotel, best restaurant and surrounded by my family, doing the best activities! What else is more important? </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>12. What does the future hold for Willy Monfret?</b></span><br />

Albert grew up with gospel, soul and folk music from his home country Surinam. For Kevin, music has always been a big part of his life, since his father is a well-known Latin artist and his mother a funky soul singer.</span></div>

way you ask it? As deejays we have over 10 UDG Cases full of old CD’s, we did
some compilations for Dirty Dutch etc. - but hey, twothousandfourteen, just an
“in the cloud” back up and two 32gb USBs is all you need!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

because it reminds us of champagne showers, partyhard crowdsurfing and great
music. True, we got inspired by those as well and a lot of other stuff, plus we
see ourselves a bit as those stars and moons in the middle of a dark club or

we’re both no brainers and you can decide from a personal point of view who is
the beauty for you. With no brainers we mean that we both have a funny and creative
side which you might need in this hectic world of music. When it comes to
serious stuff, yes, we use the other half which is quite boring sometimes. It’s
hard to describe yourself, feels awkward so we choose Albert talking about
Kevin and Kevin talking about Albert situation here.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

because of the wide range of genres actually comes from Jazz, which went
rougher into funk, which went into disco and ended up in house music. We just
love music, but also tear up dance floors and we try to combine as much as
possible to create this kinda vibe which is called GLOWINTHEDARK.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

dance, hip-hop, and pop, how do you find the right balance when producing and
where do you draw your inspiration from?</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>

inspiration everywhere, by seeing so many different countries, meeting people,
parties, girls etc. When we start writing a track it's automatically a piece of
us in the song, not because we want it, but it's there just because of our
background. We love rock & pop music, the easy arrangements you hear on the
radio, we always try to put a touch of that into it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

surprised ourselves also! One day we met him on the airport and before we knew

like that yea! Amazing writer and artist who we met in the UK while doing
studio stuff a while ago and who we clicked with in minutes. He moved to

we’re kinda all on the same line and we knew what we wanted to create, so with

played in bands before and wasn't really scared of the audience, it was more by
playing the right track on the right time, I loved it and still do after 7

real club gig was in Amsterdam at the SupperClub and I was so hyped and nervous
at the same time. I still remember that with my first 2 mixes I couldn't

you guys are fashion lovers and are currently working on your own fashion line,
what can people expect from the line, what inspired the line and why the
decision to start your own line?</b><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-GB">Fashion and music
are like a married couple to us. On stage you wanna look good, doesn’t matter
which style you choose. Our line got inspired by urban streetwear combined with
Haute Couture fashion and the music industry. We started to create and design
these bags for headphones, which are almost at the end stadium, which we think
are really cool. Handmade all-leather and all personally chosen colours and materials.
It started as the perfect model bag for a DJ where you can put your passport,
hotel card, condoms and not to forget, headphones inside.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
