Next month Durban’s 18 year old production prodigy Hendrik Joerges will release his debut single ‘Til The Sun Comes Up’ on Cape Town independent label Do Work Records.

A proficient piano player since the age of 13, using Fruity Loops since 14 and having record label interest since the age of 15, Hendrik can now finally go to the clubs he has been making music for and see the crowd reactions for himself.

Do Work founder Das Kapital talks proudly about the young producer - “I stumbled upon Hendrik Joerges’ music in 2013, when he was still 17, thanks to the magic of the Internet” he says, “I’ve been playing ‘Til the Sun Comes Up’ ever since its debut at Oppikoppi this August, to one of the most incredible crowd reactions I have ever seen for a new tune. Hendrik Joerges is set to have a very special impact on Southern Hemisphere Summer this year – of that there is no doubt in my mind.”

This single features Los Angeles-based vocalist, Emmie - "I was in LA and the track was sent over to me and I loved the vibe” she explains, “I wanted to write something that could be played on guitar as well as performed in front of a festival crowd.  We went back and forth a little and I'm so happy with the final result.”

Joerges talks excitedly about the track, “My debut single ‘Til The Sun Comes Up’ is really a very special production. I started working on it in November 2013 and finished it in September 2014, with over 100 hours project time (time spent working on the track). I went through a hard time in 2013 and the melody that I came up with in this track was a means of expressing and releasing the emotional pain I experienced. That's why it’s a very special and emotional production for me”.

‘Til The Sun Comes Up’ will be released on 2nd November 2014 on iTunes, Beatport and other retail and streaming services.

About Do Work Records
Cape Town-based Do Work Records is a collaboration between Das Kapital and his manager Tim Medcraft.  Established in 2013 with the aim then of releasing Das Kapital’s own material, the label quickly developed into a hub of South African talent.

Now home to Leechi, Hendrik Joerges, RVWR, D.Know, Relative Two and VaVa, the ethos is explained as follows:

“Our intention is simple – to build a label that we and others can be proud of; that people can believe in and can be inspired by; that stands as a mark of quality, to push the boundaries of what people think they can achieve. It’s one world one market and we are not interested in being the biggest in Cape Town or South Africa. We see our competition as the best artists in their genres worldwide, and it’s something we expect and ask our artists to strive for. We aim to compete and deliver music at the highest level. Otherwise, what’s the point?” - Pulse Radio Interview August 2014
