Deep Down Inside with My Digital Enemy

1. Hello Serg & Kieron a very warm welcome to Think In Electronic, its is such a great honor to be doing this interview with you
Thanks glad to be here! ☺

2. How are you doing and if each one of you were a cookie what cookie would you be?
Kieron: Well, triple chocolate chip for me!
Sergei: Fruit and Nut

3. No TIE interview is complete without asking this what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear South Africa?
Has to be Nelson Mandela.

4. How would Serg describe Kieron and how would Kieron describe Serg ?
Sergei: Out of control! Haha!
Kieron: Sensible but not too Sensible ;-)

5. We all grow up with ideas of what we want to be when we older, Have you guys always wanted to be DJ/ Producers and what was it about electronic music that attracted My Digital Enemy to EDM?
Well, we both wanted to be making money from music when we were younger - whether that be in a band or DJing… But after going to Ibiza for the first time all those years ago it made us want to stick firmly with electronic music ☺

6. We sure you get asked this a lot so forgive us, but how did the two of you meet and how did you decide on the name?
Well we met at college years ago and we were both into music…
The name came about when digital downloads were killing the Vinyl market so we called ourselves My Digital Enemy... ☺

7. Change (We give it our balling stamp of approval)  is featured on Toolroom Records Miami 2014 - Toolroom are 11 years old this year, what were Serg and Kieron doing 11 years ago and did you think you would be where you are today?
God, I can’t remember that far back - too many raves and all-night parties!! Safe to say we would have been well chuffed with ourselves if we had been able to see into the future from back then…

8. My Digital Enemy - La Bruja was just released on X which is part of Size Records, insane track, interesting name, what inspired the track and how long did it take to produce it?
That track was on the harder end of the things that we normally produce, it took around 4 days to do... We named it La Bruja which means ‘the witch’ in Spanish as we thought it sound dark and liked the legend!

9. When DJing how do you go about planning your sets? Which one of you is the crazier one on stage?
Well we normally make a playlist of the tracks we like and think we can play depending on the venue, but we always have other tracks as it’s good to get a feel from the crowd and play off them!
Depending on the crowd, we generally both go crazy on stage – when they are going mad then we are too!

10. One of the most difficult tasks of being a producer would have to be naming you track, how do you guys go about naming your tracks? And typically how long does it take to finish a track?
We generally name the track from whatever the vocal says. If there isn’t one, we think of a good word or phrase we like and just use that!

11. Do you have a favorite set of clothes you like to DJ in or a lucky charm you take along?
Kieron: I generally wear all Diesel clothes and the stuff I get in Brighton from local designers...
Sergei: My lucky charm is my wedding ring because if I didn’t wear it and my wife saw a photo I would get a right beating! Haha!

12. What flavor Milkshake describes the My Digital Enemy sound and why?
Mint Chocolate as our tracks are cool and tasty!!!

13. Do both of you remember the 1st time you visited Ibiza? Was it to holiday or to play? What was the experience like?
Yer, all our mates went on holiday there and it was a life-changing experience! It gave us the drive to produce electronic music and strive to be DJs...

14. Do you have any last messages for your fans
Come to our gigs and buy our records!! Haha, no seriously - thanks for all the support so far… Plenty of big things still to come!

Thank you Serg and Kieron for doing this interview with us : ) Hopefully we get the chance to catch you guys play somewhere around the globe sometime soon..
Defo!  Just let us know when you’re near any of our shows and we will stick you on the guest list!

Layla and Yasmin
