Live for Now with Klauss Goulart

Klauss Goulart is known to many as the leading light for progressive house and trance in Brazil. Hailing from Sao Paulo, born on November 23rd, 1985. Klauss grew up in the countryside of Brazil from an early age he had contact with music, due to his families Jazz and Bossa Nova roots.

Klauss burst onto the scene with successive Beatport-charting releases 'Turbulence' (appearing most notably on Markus Schulz's renowned Prague 11 compilation) , 'No Mans Land', 'Miles Ahead', 'Rio' on Armada Music, Flashover Recordings, High Contrast and various Armada sub-labels like Armind and Cold Harbour Recordings.

Hello Klauss Thank you for taking time out to do this interview with us. It is a huge pleasure.
The pleasure is mine, thank you very much!

How are you doing,? it was the Grammys and well we want to know between Zedd and Armin which was you favorite track Clarity or TIWIFL ?
I'm fine, thanks for asking! haha a bit guilt to say, but clarity.

This is a staple TIE question, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear South Africa?
Mandela!!!

We know who Klauss Goulart is in terms of musically but can you tell us a little more about yourself on a non-musical front?
I came from a family of farmers, did law school, grew up in the country side of Brazil, moved to Sao Paulo at the age of 14, was a professional swimmer, I really believe in GOD and in the power of love and right now I'm living in my farm.

Everyone all grow up with ideas of what we want to be when we older, Have you always wanted to be a DJ/ Producer and what was it about electronic music that attracted you to the scene?
Since I was 16 I wanted to be a DJ yes, but before that, I just wanted to remain as kid hehe. The thing that attracted me the most was the feeling that I get when I listen to it. It is something that I only get when listening to trance, in no other music genre I get this warm and passionate feeling. I truly love trance!!

Turbulence was insanely huge one of our all time favorites, do you think it played a huge part in getting your foot into the Electronic music scene?
O yes for sure, it still is my biggest track and I own a lot to it. The track was done in less than 4 hours.

The industry is very cut throat with new Djs and producers popping up all the time. What has been the biggest obstacles to date in your career as an artist?
Be patience and understand that everything has its own time to happen. Understand that God will lead us.

Your recent release is with Amanda Wilson Live For Now, what inspired the track and what was it like working with Amanda?
The melody of the track was made in 2012 and I don't really remember what inspired me back then and the work flow with Amanda was great! We did everything via e-mails, but it was done so fast. She is amazing!

The track is titled Live for Now, do you live for now? What’s the craziest thing you have ever done?
O yes I do, now. I left my job last year to spend 2 months isolated in Amsterdam producing.

Every artist has a signature sound that represents them, how would you describe your sound and how long did it take before you found your style?
Its melodic and groovy. It took me many years to find it. Turbulence has a different sound than what I'm doing now and only managed to find it last year, and as 2014 will pass by you'll be able to listen to the new sound I developed for myself, but I believe that you gotta keep moving, so for sure down the road to the end of this year I'll have it changed again.

You are signed to Coldharbour , and you have a collab with Markus Schulz which is featured on his new Scream 2 album, how did the collab come to be and what was it like working with Markus, did you have any squabbles over the track?
By august 2013 I was sending Coldharbour many many tracks and they were into every tune, so at one point Markus asked me if I wanted to work with him on a collab for his album. Again we only worked on line, via e-mail and Skype, but was a great experience for me. No squabbles at all, it was very very smooth from the beginning till the end.

It’s the end of the world and you have the chance to play anywhere in the world where would you pick and why, and what 5 tracks would be in your set?
Buenos Aires. Craziest crowd in the world, they are passionate about electronic music there in a way above average! Would play - 1. Hans Zimmer - Earth; 2. Markus Schulz & Klauss Goulart feat Paul Aiden - Fireworks; 3. DJ Tiesto - In My Memory; 4. Nalin & Kane - Open Your Eyes; 5. Andain - You Once Told Me.

We know you are from Brazil, and Brazilians know how to party where is your favourite place to party in Brazil?
Green Valley, but also trancoso is great in the end of the year.

Which words or phrases do you overuse?
Out loud 'exactly', to my self 'you have to make everything with Love'

If we switched places and I was the artist and you were asking the questions, what is one question you would ask me? Why?
Was everything you did so far in your life worth it? I ask this because we have to stand for what we do and we have to do it right and do what we love, because this is the only way we'll be able to be good at it and have a pleasant life.

Lastly, what are you looking forward to this year, and what can fans expect from you?
Looking forward to the release of 'Fireworks' and the ones I have planned ahead. My fans can expect way more tracks than last year, a lot of them with vocals and some more interesting collabs :-)

Last Messages for fans?
Thanks for your love and support and I hope to meet each one of you!! ;-)
