I need R3hab Cape Town

Fadil El Ghoul better known as R3hab made his debut in South Africa on Friday the 29th of November Along with supporting acts such as Blitzkrieg whose set was also one of the high points of the night. He provided a true full spectrum of dance music partnered with a killer light show.

The Side Show once again delivered an amazing event showing the world that the South African EDM scene is as big as any other. The highly anticipated Dutchman rocked the side show in Cape Town with a mostly or be it much darker Dutch house set throwing in a few trap drops to shake the crowd and keep them on their feet. A set similar to the 1 he played at the legendary Tomorrowland in Belgium earlier this year.

Fadil (R3hab) who recently signed to Afrojacks Wall Recordings unsurprisingly dropped a few of his most notable tracks such as ‘Pump The Party’, a crowd favourite. He also played ‘Prutataaa’ which is his first collaboration with fellow Dutchman Afrojack, their skills in producing the subgenre known as Dutch house is beyond clear and I personally cannot wait to hear their future collaborations. R3habs on point song selection wasn’t the only talk of the night; The Side Show also provided an awesome lightshow. I remember standing on the balcony overlooking the crowd when he dropped his remix of Diplo’s express yourself. As it built up the lights went down as the smoke machines poured over the screaming crowd, 3 red lasers pierced the thick smoke and danced in the air giving the illusion of the smoke being on fire. When the beat dropped, the lasers now all different colours joined the crowd as they jumped, it jumped, giving a very spectacular effect. After R3hab's performance he gave a heartfelt thank you to everyone but the crowd wasn’t going to let him go that easily and started chanting for an encore, R3hab gladly obliged with his remix of Calvin Harris’ I need your love which set the crowd into a frenzy, they flocked to the dance floor from the bars to give R3hab a proper send off.

R3hab at The Side Show will definitely be a topic talked about for a while, amazing song selection, killer light shows and an enthusiastic crowd all made for a memorable night. I personally hope R3habs return to the mother city is done with haste and if this night was anything to go by I am very excited to see who else The Side Show is going to pull out their sleeves.
