Simon Lee & Alvin x think IN electronic Top 5

Every month Simon Lee & Alvin share with us ( think IN electronic) share their 5 favourite discoveries (in no particular order) and tell us why they love these records!

 JUNE 2014

Syn Cole - Miami 82 (Merk & Kremont Remix) [LE7ELS]

Simon Lee : I'm a big fan of Syn Cole and Merk & Kremont. We've been supporting these guys since their earlier days. I really love the groove on this remix. This is a track I'd play in an early hours or peak time set.

Alvin : Syn Cole brings to us an upbeat radio ready track that will get everyone movin'. What complements this track so seamlessly is the lushful vocals of Madame Buttons. Merk & Kremont brilliantly atmosphered the track and turned it into something dancefloor worthy. Definitely worth keeping an eye on these two Italians!

Paris Blohm & Taylr Renee - Left Behinds [REVEALED]

A: A vocal track deserving two thumbs up and in this track. Paris Blohm, a fast rising LA producer releases what I believe to be his best track to date. Teaming up with Taylr Rene created a great combination! Taylr is no stranger to the EDM scene as her track with Axwell and Sick Individuals “I Am” topped the Beatport spot at #1. She reprises here with Paris Blohm showcasing her stunning vocals and proving yet again she’s a vocalist to be reckoned with.

SL : What I love about this track is how it takes its time to build up. Taylr does an amazing job with the vocals here. I love the lyrics! I'm a sucker for records like these, they stand out from the pack, but would still fit well into a DJ set. I clearly remember Paris's remix of "A Thing Called Love" (check it out if you haven't). This guy is on fire!

Shogun - Zanarkand [ARMIND]

A : Any Final Fantasy X fan will be immediately transported back in time. What was meant to be a melancholy piece has been morphed into a stunning trance infused track. So whether or not you are a fan of the ‘Oh so great game franchise’, press play, sit back, close your eyes and experience the journey yourself because Shogun has surely done the original “To Zanarkand” some trance justice!

SL : Actually I didn't have to be a fan of Final Fantasy to fall in love with this record. It's a splendid trance track and has all the makings of one. Despite trance's diminishing popularity, tracks like these remind us that the genre is here to stay. This record connects within. I don't think people realise how much more composing and techniques go into making a trance record, and I'm pretty sure Shogun spent a long time perfecting this one. You need to buy your copy if you haven't already.

Seven Lions Feat Ellie Goulding - Don't Leave [CASABLANCA]

SL : The genius that is Seven Lions! Add Ellie Goulding to this and we've got an outstanding song! I love the melody, the chorus and all the little elements that are sprinkled throughout the track.

A : Seven Lions brings to the table something different from that of their distinguished dubstep style. In this track, they collaborate with renowned artiste Ellie Goulding and here you will witness first hand her seasoned vocals permeating throughout like a bright warm light. It is no wonder Ellie is looking at several award nominations and wins this year. On another note, the fact that Seven Lions explored another genre could spell trouble from dubstep fans worldwide. In my opinion, producers tend to experiment different genres to see where it brings them in their production journey or evolution for that matter. Many might label this as selling out but if the track sounds amazing and garners recognition, who we are to say otherwise.

Tritonal & Paris Blohm feat. Sterling Fox - Colors (Estiva & Juventa Remix) [FREE]

A : Tritonal never seizes to amaze us in everything they endeavor and “Colors” is no exception. With Paris Blohm on board and Sterling Fox at the vocal helm, “Colors” made its way to the #1 spot on Beatport progressive charts. Now there were many remixes released for this track because of the contest held but we took to liking Estiva & Juventa’s. Kudos guys!

SL : I love this version because of it's energy. Estiva and Juventa made a nice remix of "Now or Never" and I'm happy they worked together again for this one. The best part is that they gave it away for free.
