Music Is More Than Mathematics Album Launce #MIMTM [Review]

Protoculture #MIMTM Album Launch Party Cape Town

music is more than mathematics

‘Music Is More Than Mathematics’ is the 4th album release of multiple award winning Cape Town born DJ and producer Nate Raubenheimer aka Protoculture which is being released on Armada records. A qualified audio engineer Nate has been tearing up dance floors all over the world, from small clubs in Cape Town to sold out stadiums in Mexico. Protoculture has also been named in the line up of the legendary Tomorrowland main stage in Belgium this year alongside close friend Max Graham.

Following the release of his album a sold out launch party was held at the Cape Town city hall on the 10th of May 2014. Supported by Nick Supply, Chris Jack, Lady M, Danalog and the renowned Dean Fuel who played an amazing set which set the crowd into a frenzy and got the stage hot for the man of the hour. Nate who was originally supposed to play a 3 hour set, had the crowd absolutely buzzing with anticipation. When 1 o’clock rolled around and Protoculture took the stage, the crowd was ridiculously hyped. The bars, toilets and smoking areas where deserted, the dance floor was passion and love personified. With people from all over Cape Town and from all walks of life dancing and raving together as one #SAtrancefamily. I ran into the one half of German Trance icons Cosmic gate on the night Stefan Bossems, head bobbing away who said he was really enjoying the energy on the night. I remember when Nate dropped Above and Beyond’s ‘You got to go’, I was standing on the stage and the entire crowd had their hands up, singing in unison it was an amazing moment in a fitting venue.

Cape Town city hall is a very illustrious building in the history of South Africa, and it was the superlative choice anyone could have made. Space, atmosphere and decor all made it a hauntingly beautiful place to celebrate with Nate. Killer light shows and an awesome sound system made it into a very special night.

A superbly well put together launch by DVM and Butterbox. The ‘Music Is More Than Mathematics’ world tour will see Cape Town’s golden boy Protoculture heading to every continent on the planet and if his launch party is anything to go by this tour is going to shake the world of Trance.
