tyDi Hotel Rooms Reviewed!

It is not often that you listen to something that captivates you from beginning to end right? Well, I think I’ve found that in tyDi’s latest album release Hotel Rooms. Now I must be honest I’ve been sitting on this album since release but have been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to listen to it and now that I have all I can say is WOW!!!!! The young Australian Tyson Illingworth known as tyDi is truly a musical mastermind when it comes to creating music that will blow you away.
Well known for his chart topping dance tracks and successful releases of his previous dance inspired albums Look Closer, and Shooting Stars, Hotel Rooms is not a dance/club album and on a total different spectrum of music. If not dance then what, you may be asking?? Well in my own words the perfect eclectic mix of chill tracks that will make your hair stand. AHA! Hotel Rooms features a mix of 25 tracks mostly new unheard unreleased material and some of tyDi’s older singles and fan favourites such as -Look Closer, Meet Me In Kyoto, Let You Go Her  Lullaby and collaborations including: The Moment It Breaks and Vanilla feat Tania Zygar, Worlds Apart feat Audrey Gallagher and an acoustic raw version of Fire & Load feat Christina Novelli.

Now it must be said tyDi is in fact musically trained and Hotel Rooms most definitely showcases the young stars diverse ability and talent to write/compose, arrange and produce music and experiment with sound in a way that just charms the senses and tells a story with every note every beat.  Believe it or not most of the tracks or part thereof were composed in airports on planes and hotel rooms (the life of a DJ) giving the album its title. Over and above this, most of tracks were recorded with live instruments piano, guitars, drums and acoustic vocals and this definitely gives the album an edge!!

I might sound like tyDi’s biggest fan girl right now but after being bombarded with big room festival sound type of tracks in the scene- don’t get me wrong I do like these but they do tend to get a little repetitive and boring after a while- it is just lovely to listen to something else, something totally different! Something chillout, classical, orchestral, melodic, emotional, raw and real…. Okay okay so maybe I should stop talking about how obsessed I am with this album but what I am going to say is do yourself a favour and give the album a listen and no matter what your favourite genre or style of music I can guarantee that you will be blown away by some of the tracks on Hotel Rooms!

Peace and Love
