GATEWAY DRUGS

Gateway Drugs is a Cape Town based synth-pop duo made up of David Gabriel Thorpe and

Andrew Esterhuizen.

The pair are part of the Surfing Loser Space Cult collective (Beach Party, The Dollfins

and Young Galaxies (production) and have been making music together since 2010.

In late 2012, they set up a small home studio and David started singing over a few

electronic beats that Andrew had made. In no time their first song, 'Airwaves', came

together and they settled on the name 'Gateway Drugs' for the project.

The self-titled album was recorded entirely in their room and produced, mixed and mastered

by Andrew Esterhuizen. The song 'Summer Time' features Fuck You a.k.a. Danielle Hitchcock

from The Dollfins and Beach Party. Album art designed by Ian Jepson.
